Why, oh why, do we resist those things that will bring us the most benefit?

Have you ever known that there’s something you absolutely need to do, but you totally resist doing it? It’s more than procrastination, it’s a block, a refusal… Well, I’ve encountered this very recently. In fact, I encountered it BIG TIME!

So, the story goes like this…

For the last year (at least) I’ve intended to send out a regular e-newsletter, or ezine.  You know the sort… nicely formatted, great content, great images, interesting links and other cool stuff.  I’ve been taught how to do it, seen lots of great examples and received hundreds of great tips.  But, did I do it?  No.

What stopped me?  What kept me stuck?  Why was I resisting doing something that would be so beneficial?

Well, the truth of it is, I wasn’t resisting.  Oh no, I didn’t see it like that.  For me, it was the logical outcome of all the things I absolutely knew to be true.  I KNEW that it would be difficult, I KNEW it would be time consuming, I KNEW it would be stressful to maintain, I just KNEW that technologically, I wasn’t up for the job, and so on… So, is it any surprise that nothing happened?  Not at all

I was totally entangled within the web of my own preconceived ideas and misconceptions.  This is what resistance does for us, it keeps us stuck.

To untangle ourselves and let go we have to open up.  We have to put ourselves to one side for a moment and get out of our own way!

That’s what happened to me.  I finally recognized what the small, fearful me was doing.  How that part of me was totally monopolizing the rest.  My goodness, what a revelation!  I allowed new thoughts and ideas to flow into my consciousness.  I opened up my mind and finally listened to what I’d been hearing for over a year… and, yes, it worked!

This experience was a powerful lesson for me.  I work with women all over the world, helping them to step into their true selves, to reconnect with their feminine power and be the women they were born to be – yet, I was blind to the huge obstacle that was blocking my own path!

When I let go of my resistance, my path was easy and effortless, and that’s exactly how it will be for you…
